Sometimes it is not easy to get help with math online. So listen to my story how I solve my math problems in one evening.
I think it was Tuesday; I set my alarm for seven o’clock in the morning, just like I always do. But last night I gone to bed later than usual, so when it went off, I decided to catch 5 more minutes of sleep before I got up.
When I opened my eyes it was 7:45, I couldn’t believe it! Since I was running late, I skipped breakfast and feeding my dog and didn’t make my bed or straighten up my room – even thought it was a part of the “House Rules”.
I ran as fast as I could to catch the bus, but even so I missed it. Luckily for me, my father hadn’t left for work yet, so I asked him for a ride to school. He wasn’t too happy about it, because it meant he could be late for an appointment he had at work.
By the time I got to school, the five minute bell has already rung, so I had to go to the office to get a late-pass before I could be admitted to class. That’s when I remembered that I hadn’t asked my father to write me a note for being late. He’d been in such a bad mood, and I knew this was especially directed at me, so I decided there is no way I could call him now. So, there I was, sitting out in the principal’s office.
Things were really starting to snowball – but it was only the beginning. Since I was absent from my first hour class, I missed my math test. My teacher Mr. Stevens said I couldn’t make up the test since I had an unexcused absence and also reminded me that I hadn’t turned my math assignment the day before and it must be on his desk by 11am tomorrow, or it will negatively reflects on my grades.
The reason this really upset me because I needed good grade-point average to stay eligible for the tennis team. I’m the captain of the team, and being removed because of low grades would be really embarrassing. Besides, my dad promised to pay half on the car for me if my grades improved by the end of this semester. So I started thinking about not being able to buy a car, and I got even more upset.
That evening I sat down at my desk with 100% commitment to finish that damn, math assignment and do what ever it takes to improve my grades. I wasn’t very good at math. I wasn't by any means the highest achiever at school, but I still played on the team. Failing made me want to cling to my smart label even more, yet because of that one class I felt it all slipping away. Ok let’s face it. I hated math. I hated it for making me feel stupid, and I hated it because there was nothing enjoyable about it. It was just there, like a big black wall I would run into every once in a while. It would stare me down, not letting me know why it was there or why I should care, just intimidating me and forcing me to walk around it.
When I went to get my math book for that assignment from the shelf, I discovered it was missing - but only after I searched for it like crazy – yanking everything around, piling it all on the floor and stuffing it all back.
So here I am, with no book, stacked with math assignment that I know nothing about, and that need to be done by tomorrow morning.
